The new Cola War? Galaxy Note 2 Sales: Samsung moves 3 Million in 1 Month

Coke and Pepsi. Yankees and Red Sox. Samsung and Apple? Looks like Samsung is making its pitch to be the number one competitor with Apple in the smart phone market. Or is it the other way around, is Apple competing with Samsung?
Based on numbers announced today from South Korea, Samsung has sold over 3 million units of the Galaxy Note 2 in just over a month. Not to be confused with Samsung's flagship phone the Galaxy S3, the Note 2 has a bigger screen and includes a digital pen for note taking and interactive fun. It's more a hybrid of a tablet and phone.
The South Korean firm, which was the world's largest maker of smartphones in the July-September quarter, said it took 37 days for the oversize smartphone to reach the sales figure. Samsung is pinning its hope on the Note II and the S III to maintain its market lead during the crucial fourth-quarter holiday season, when a number of new gadgets are vying for attention from consumers in the crowded market.
Apple just launched its Apple iPad Mini in stores today to get a jump on holiday sales but has more direct competition from the popular Amazon Kindle Fire HD than from Samsung's Note 10.1 tablet. Apple and Samsung have already built a heated rivalry of court battles, patent issues and throwing sticks and stones. Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Cases

In the long run consumers win in the end, as each tech giant tries to out smart-phone each other with updated technologies and flashier gadgets while keeping costs low to move units and appeal to more of a buying base.
Research firm IDC said Samsung topped the global smartphone market in the July-September third quarter with 56.3 million sales, more than double Apple's 26.9 million iPhone sales. The two companies controlled combined 46 percent of the global smartphone market, according to IDC.
Apple has years of experience in consumer battle. Apple took over the desktop and laptop computer market the last five years pretty much knocking out Windows and numerous PC giants off their feet. Does it have enough stamina to handle a phone war with Samsung?
The star power that was used during the cola wars is now spilling into the phone market as the well received LeBron James Galaxy ads were released last week and have been plastered all over television. No word yet if Apple will counter with Katy Perry or Will Smith advertising. Let's hope for another
